The introduction of ‘Trackside’ electronic gaming machines in WA TABs and gambling harm

The WA Government recently passed a Bill as part of the sale and privatisation of the TAB which allows for simulated electronic gaming machines to be introduced in all TAB outlets across the state. This is pokies in disguise.

Passing this Bill will knowingly result in an increase in gambling related harms in our community, and the impacts on health and wellbeing will be felt by the whole community. As a state that has safeguarded communities from gaming machines outside of the casino, this is a step in the wrong direction. It’s not too late for the Government to stop electronic gaming from causing harm in our communities.

Community members who would like to express concerns and ask questions are invited to the public forum to hear from experts on the issue, and have a chance to have your say on gaming machines in WA.

The Hon. Ben Wyatt, Treasurer, and the Hon. Paul Papalia, Minister for Racing and Gaming have been invited to attend this event.
