SUMMARY:Reducing Gambling and Gaming Harm in WA: Insights\, Impacts & Opportunities for Action
DESCRIPTION:Join us online for the launch of the Scoping Study into Reducing Gambling-Related Harm in WA. \nThere is a common belief that gambling harm is low in WA because electronic gaming machines are restricted to the casino. We will also launch the Reducing Gambling Related Harm in WA Scoping Study\, highlighting key findings and opportunities to respond more effectively to gambling harm in WA. \n  \nWho should attend? \nAnyone wanting a clearer picture of gambling and gaming harm in WA\, including community workers\, health professionals\, policy officers\, researchers\, and advocates. \n  \nSpeakers \nDr Daniela Vecchio\nDr Daniela Vecchio is the Head of Mental Health and Addiction Services at Fiona Stanley Hospital and a leading clinician in the fields of addiction medicine and psychiatric care. With extensive experience supporting individuals affected by complex co‑occurring conditions\, she brings deep clinical insight into gaming disorder and current and future responses and supports.  Dr Vecchio was named 2026 WA Australian of the year. \nDr Quentin Beresford\nDr Quentin Beresford is a political scientist and acclaimed author of Hooked – Inside the Murky World of Australia’s Gambling Industry.
