Everyone remembers ex-Prime Minister Bob Hawke’s promise that by 1990 no Australian Child will be living in poverty. However, 2017 about 17.4% of children under the age of 15 live below the poverty line.
Poverty is growing in Australia with an estimated 2.9 million people (13.3%) living below the accepted poverty line. This conference will delve into some of the reasons why disadvantage remains entrenched for some and also showcase various innovative programs helping to break the cycle.
