Webinar: 2021 Emerging Issues Forum

June 3, 2021

At the turn of the decade, Australia bore witness to two unprecedented and devastating crises: catastrophic bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic. The deeply pervasive and compounding impacts continue to unfold across the Australian landscape and wildlife, infrastructure and industries, and individual and community health and wellbeing, prompting a range of crisis-driven policy and community sector responses.

These are embedded within a broader and shifting socio-political context. On the state level, the WA Labor Party secured a second term in government with an unparalleled mandate, and nationally, there is a groundswell of demand for greater gender equity and building cultures of respect.

This year’s Emerging Issues Forum analyses some of the most pressing issues facing the community sector in this new context, providing a forward-looking analysis of trends in housing, gender equity, poverty and inequality with key campaigning and advocacy strategies put forth by sector leaders.
