All states and territories follow the National Fuel Security Plan to ensure a nationally consistent approach. This plan sets out four levels as outlined below.
Weekly fuel supply updates are provided by the WA Government to inform the public on the actions being taken to support fuel security.Â
On 16 April 2026, Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS) sent a survey to the Western Australian community services sector to capture a real-time snapshot of how rising fuel costs and supply pressures were affecting not-for-profit organisations operating across the State.
The initiative was delivered in collaboration with the Council of Aboriginal Services WA (CASWA), Community Employers WA (CEWA) and National Disability Services WA (NDSWA).
The purpose of the survey was to:
Organisations identified 177 programs that had been impacted by rising fuel prices. Programs are located across WA, with regional service delivery most affected, accounting for 62% of all locations.
A follow-up, more targeted survey is currently underway.
