ACOSS Budget Priorities Statement released
ACOSS have released the 2018-2019 Federal Budget statement. The document contains a range of recommendations calling on the government to lift people out of poverty and improve funding for childcare, education, health, and the National Disability Insurance Scheme, as well as the increase of social security.

Palm Sunday Walk for Justice for Refugees
Justice for Refugees is holding the annual Palm Sunday gathering to demonstrate a united movement of people and organisations who are calling for justice and dignity for refugees and for people seeking asylum.

Business Licensing Inquiry
The Economic Regulation Authority is undertaking an inquiry into reform of state government business and occupational licencing. WACOSS is seeking any examples or case studies you have of where business licencing has created barriers for you to achieve good outcomes, but also cases you have come across where licencing is or would have been to the benefit of your clients (such as protecting them from a dodgy trader) or your organisation. WACOSS prizes for Social Work Graduates
WACOSS congratulates Julie Jones and Maxie Reason for winning the Highest Mark in Working in Human Service Organisations and Highest Mark in Social Policy in Practice respectively. The prizes were presented by Stuart Reid, on behalf of WACOSS, at the Curtin University School of Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Speech Pathology Prize Giving Ceremony.

National survey on the impact of out of pocket medical costs
Out of pocket medical costs are hurting a rising number of Australians. The Federal Government has recognised the community's concern about this issue and has set up a committee to look into it. The Consumers Health Forum invites you to share your experiences by responding to the questions on this form.

Codeswitch is seeking participants on behalf of North West Aboriginal Housing Fund for a Needs and Aspirations Study, to inform and improve the design and targeting of housing and support services through co-design. The survey identifies participants who meet the criteria, and closes Thursday 1 March.

A joint project between RDA Pilbara, Pilbara Development Commission (PDC) and Pilbara Regional Council (PRC), the Pilbara Research Portal is a great resource for social services, browse content, and share relevant research, and reports with others.

New Volunteer Reference group government-sector partnership
The establishment of a Volutneering Community Reference Group will advise the McGowan Government on issues of importance to the volunteering sector. The group shows representation from across the sector, and will advise on issues and ways to advance volunteering.

Bankwest Foundation Community Leadership Scholarship Program and AICD and Australian Scholarship Foundation have joined forces with Bankwest Foundation to offer multiple fully funded scholarships to not-for-profit staff living and working Western Australia.

Sustainable Health Review
The Sustainable Health Review Interim Report was released on Tuesday. This review comes on the back of the near doubling of the state health budget over the last decade and government desire to reign in expenditure.
