ACOSS ADVOCACY UPDATE
Last week we sent you a short survey from ACOSS around the (then) proposed JobKeeper legislation. That legislation has now been passed in the Federal Parliament.
ACOSS welcomes the fact that all charities, regardless of size, need only show a drop in overall revenue of 15% not 30% or 50%. This will help some of you, but not others.
However, even with the 15% test, for some, this will not secure the help you need and some of you continue to face significant job losses and service cuts. ACOSS has been urging the Government to remove from the revenue test in the rules "specific purpose funding, including under government grants" and made this clear in all our engagement with Government.
ACOSS will continue to push Government on this issue, and are asking for your help to do so with this follow-up survey. Last week you were asked information on this issue via our quick survey. Since then, the rules have been published without the changes we need. These rules can be changed at any time by the Treasurer, and ACOSS is continuing to advocate for a fairer revenue test. Your help is needed to show the impacts on your organisation.
It is important you complete the survey, even if you completed the survey last week, because this survey collects additional information about your organisation and funding which is critical for advocacy.
Complete this short survey by COB Friday 17 April 2020, so that ACOSS can continue to work actively to secure the best outcome from the JobKeeper legislation for the community services sector, and for the community as a whole.
