Building Child Safe Organisations
About the Child Safe Project
The Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS), in partnership with the Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia (CASWA), delivers the Child Safe Project to strengthen child safety across Western Australia.
The Child Safe project supports small and medium-sized community service providers, including Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), to implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. A strong focus is placed on Aboriginal-led, culturally safe approaches that reflect community values and strengths.
National Principles for Child Safe Organisations
The National Principles are a set of 10 principles developed in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. They provide a practical framework to embed child safety into leadership, governance, policies, and everyday practice, ensuring children are safe, respected, and heard.

Advisory Support:
As a part of this Project there is a free one-on-one advisory service for small to medium sized community service organisations. Our aim is to provide ongoing, tailored support to address specific challenges that organisations may encounter on their child safe journey.
You can book a time to meet with our team to discuss your implementation and progress on becoming a child safe organisation using the Microsoft Bookings link below. If none of the available times suit you, or if you require further information or assistance, you can email our team at [email protected]
Please note: This is not a consultancy service, and we cannot provide legal advice or child safe accreditation. This service provides an opportunity to discuss your organisation’s child safe journey and explore topics relating to your implementation of the National Principles.
Our team may offer suggestions or share resources to support your work. However, responsibility for decision-making, legal compliance, and implementation remains with your organisation. WACOSS and the Child Safe Project team do not conduct assessments, provide accreditation, or implement changes within organisations.
